Dutch innovation in Gaza
Interwand builds at Erez Terminal
As a result of the evacuation of the Gaza Strip several
border crossing points have been relocated.
In contrast to the presently heavily guarded border
crossing points a new concept has now been developed.
With help from the latest technology new terminals
are being built. The "Erez Terminal" is the first
of many user friendly crossing points.
It is made entirely out of glass
It is designed to be totally transparent. All walls in this project have been supplied
by Interwand in Eibergen. Produced
in the Dutch "Achterhoek" and installed in Gaza!
The "Erez Terminal" is an essential control
post for people transporting goods between Palestinian
and Israeli territory. It is an important
economic route for the people
in the Gaza Strip.
Everyday people have to pass through the terminal.
Due to the threat of terrorism
security is of crucial importance. The use
of heavy fencing and strict controls however
does not fit in with the new policy.
The choice of technology to make identification
of potential threats fast and as accurate as possible, is major new approach,
Which will make the daily lives of the passers-by
much more pleasant.
"All of the walls in this terminal are produced
in the Dutch Achterhoek", said Ger Bras
enthusiastically. He is export manager
of Interwand Eibergen. The Dutch market
leader in the field of flexible wall systems.
"Our walls conform to the high requirements
and fit excellently into the innovative
concept of Pelleg Architects". "The Erez Terminal"
is transparent through controls with visual
technology. The whole building is modular,
so that in future it can be extended.
